Schickele composed two main theme songs (with Diane Lampert) which were performed by Joan Baez. This very moving, unforgettable space story benefitted from a mixture of both marvellous scoring from Peter Schickele and the ethereal folk voice of Joan Baez. Silent Running (1973) by Peter Shickele (also featuring Joan Baez) Who in 2016 would even attempt (or be capable) of such compositional complexity for a kids’ sci-fi film?ġ9. Utterly magical.įondly remembered for its fantastic Ray HarryHausen stop-motion, Mysterious Island also boasts one of Herrman’s finest scores (and that is saying something). Of course this is a very subjective topic for soundtrack aficionados and I have left out John Williams’ incredible Star Wars scores due to me (as well as lack of space) pedantically choosing to class them as Science Fantasy rather than Science Fiction. I always thought that it was perhaps from an old movie’s score since this is the movie where QT started doing that, but now I’m thinking that this could possibly be production music as well. It’s played very prominently in the movie, yet isn’t listed in the end credits.

Have fun listening to the songs and please be sure to help me identify anymore if you can! Thanks again SO much. I didn’t pursue it any harder after that because I figured even if they would sell me the songs it wouldn’t be for the 89 cents a song i like to pay! But you never know! I may try again someday. I contacted the company to try and acquire the songs, but they told me they’ve never sold to collectors, only movie-makers, and i’d have to talk to Ole Georg himself about it. I know Tarantino used production music from the Ole Georg catalog of music for Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

I’m thinking it’s quite possible that it’s also from Sonoton or at least a very similar compilation of production music. You’ll notice the track i labeled “Del-Amo Mall Music 2” starts with “Bahia Baby” and then changes to another song. Maybe your acute musical ear could pick out these other tunes as well. MAN, thank you! That is amazing to me how you could’ve picked that out and you even had it! I NEVER thought i’d get to hear it outside the movie! It makes my day! There’s a few other songs played in the background during the mall scenes too.
